Sriram Venkataraman is a Japan-based business builder with close to 35 years of experience across India’s and Japan’s technology and industrial sectors, and one of the most established India–Japan business bridges of his generation. He has spent his career creating and scaling new businesses from zero — most notably building Infosys’s Japan and wider Asia-Pacific operations from a standing start into a multi-country, multi-million- dollar business over nearly two decades — and, since 2018, has built his own advisory firm, Cocreate Inc., into a trusted bridge between Japanese and Indian companies, investors and entrepreneurs.

Having lived and worked in Japan for over 25 years, he combines a rare depth of understanding of Japanese business practices, language and culture with an equally strong grounding in the Indian market, giving him a network that reaches deep into corporate boardrooms, government bodies, universities and the startup community on both sides. He is an active participant in the India–Japan startup ecosystem with direct access to venture capital funds, private equity firms, corporate investors and entrepreneurs. He has had board and advisory roles at several Japanese and Indian companies.

In addition to his corporate role, Sriram has been appointed to Japanese government bodies including the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications’ Information Frontier Study Group and the Cabinet Office’s Expert Group on Foreign Direct Investment in Japan. Born 1964 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. Based in Tokyo, Japan, where he has lived and worked for more than 25 years.
