Eriko Asai has 30 years of professional experience leading global organizations across multiple industries, culture and geography, including Sony, Microsoft and GE. Track record in managing multi-billion-dollar business, with deep domain expertise and trusted stakeholder network.
During her tenure as President of GE Japan, she led the company’s operations across its diverse businesses during a period of significant transformation. Under her leadership, GE strengthened its position in Japan’s energy transition, healthcare, and industrial sectors.
Throughout her career, she has built a reputation for driving business growth, leading organizational transformation, and developing high-performing teams across multinational organizations. Her experience spans both Japanese corporations and global enterprises, giving her a distinctive perspective on cross-border investment, innovation, and corporate leadership.
Beyond her executive career, Eriko has played a prominent role in strengthening business and policy engagement between Japan and the international community. She has served as Chairperson of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ), Principal of the U.S.-Japan Business Council (USJBC), and a member of the Japanese Cabinet Office’s Foreign Investment Working Group. She currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of Nomura Research Institute (NRI), an Advisory Board member of the Kyndryl Institute, and an Expert Member of the JETRO Evaluation Committee.
Eriko holds a Bachelor of Laws and Political Science from Keio University and completed Comparative International Studies at the University of London. She is also a Certified Board Director through the Board Director Training Institute of Japan (BDTI). Born in the United Kingdom and having lived in five countries, she brings a truly international perspective to leadership and remains a passionate advocate for diversity, inclusion, and the advancement of women in business.
